If the 2008 election taught us one thing its that Americans are overwhelmingly rejecting modern-day conservatism. But what's even more important is the fact that modern day conservatives are failing because they abandoned the principles on which the Republican Party was founded. Instead of focusing on preserving democracy and helping citizens, they've become a party of Glenn Beck style crazies, who want us to think that the president wasn't actually born in America, or that the government is trying to create a new Hitler youth program in our country. Mike Papantonio talks about the reverse evolution of the Republican Party with Sam Tanenhaus, author of the new book "The Death of Conservatism."

@jwberrie I saw a documentary called control room. It was about the Iraq war from the eyes of Al Jazeera. It had a veteran that believed the network was a pro-Siddam. Even after he realized that the war was based on lies and that Faux was a propganda tool, he still had the same view of Al Jazeera. Libertarians are like that Iraq war vet.

@jwberrie populist means power of the people. The man that made that phrase famous was John Lennon, "a evil commie liberal." The only so called right wing populists are the libertarians. And even they are not that populist. Libertarians believe in small business fundmentals.
