what type of transmission is used in this type of set up? can the stock one handle the HP with an adapter plate?

@herbienbrian2 i doubt the stock truck w series tran can handle that much...this truck had w58 supra non turbo trans..bet you can find those for less than 300.00.

did you cut the firewall to install this engine?

@zorgunit I was not the original installer, but i think they banged on the firewall to fit the twin turbo set up (when it was still there). That was the most. I have seen setups where they fit the twins w/o any modifications so you dont have to worry about that.

@DahkaShades No. I'm pretty sure it came with 22re. I think the only 2wd V6 hilux were the 1 ton trucks which had a beefier rear end also.

Okay to anyone who doesnt know A 1JZ engine is a 2.5L Inline six made by toyota, came in JZA70 supra's and very strong reliable powerfull engine

how much did it cost to swap the engine? im thinking of doing it in my 98 taco sr5 this 2rz aint doing it for me lol

Did the engine originally fit? MAN I Dislike lowered toyotas. Ruins the toyota look. Lifted with 35s and 4 wheel drive and a 2jzgte swap is much more appealing.
