Ah yes, what we call "the good old days" in Holyoke, what everyone everywhere else calls "The Great Depression". I guess for Holyoke, the Great Depression is as good as it gets.

@youthelectronix: Along with green jobs, its time to recondense our cities and towns back to manageable mixed-purpose, mixed-income neighborhoods. Reinstating electric streetcars and light rail lines wherever possible would rejoin those who have been disconnected. Any rail station closed to the public and neglected by freight rail companies must be restored, modernized and regular, frequent passenger rail services fully resumed. No more sinister wars for oil wrapped in God, mom and apple pie.

@flakko1980: Sometime between 1937-1939 when the Railway was dismantled to make way for buses, which people thought were a better option. The tire and oil companies at the time conspired to eliminate this "green" technology because more $ could be made from selling tires and oil for buses. This happened all around the country where there was streetcar service.
