YES VIRGINIA, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS by Santa

The famous letter to the New York Sun newspaper in 1897 by an 8 year old girl. The newspaper response by Frank P. Church has been reprinted in newspapers thousands of times. This video is public domain. Mr.Church was born in 1834 and died at his home 46 East 30th St., Manhattan in 1906. It was not until his death that the New York Sun revealed that it was he who wrote the famous response. Mr. Church preferred anonymity. At his death he had been married for around 35 years - his wife survived him - they had no children. He is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in New York. It would seem that the house Mr. Church died in no longer stands. Very tall building now on the site - built i would guess in 1920s - same for entire street - a notable exception - directly across st. from final residence of Mr. Church is what must have been a residence similar to his - the building looks like it was erected in 1870s.- and i would guess that entire street was occupied by homes that looked like this. This final house was not far from the New York Sun building. Virginia died in 1971 - she was retired from the New York City education system. She is buried at Chatham Rural Cemetery in Chatham, N.Y. - 200 miles or so from her childhood residence - she was in an assisted living or some kind of nursing home - she had a number of children and perhaps they were living in the community and arranged for her care.at this location.
