@ThePintsizeslasher The female headed households that are in poverty hide the fact that much of the men who used to be a part of the household have been alienated from it by a corrupt divorce system, and are often themselves living in poverty, only they're living it ALONE. It may account for why 79-86% of the homeless are men and why the male suicide rate is 4 times higher than women's. Women make less than men because men work longer hours, take less time off, and work the more hazardous jobs.

It's crass and ignorant for the host to say something shaming to men like "the poor women have to come home and deal with the housework and kids too" in the context of a story about MEN in crisis, esp when it's not true. When you take in housework IN TOTAL, outside and in, men do their fair share PLUS work longer hours and take less time off in the workforce than women. And the divorce industry almost criminalizes dads spending time with their kids, and society doesn't promote it much either.

Why should they be a bum and a burden just because they don't make a pay cheque? While I support removing the subsidies on a lot of things, especially to the oil industry and corn farming, those subsidies, by being in place for so many years, have made the alternatives deeply unprofitable and created a dependence on the subsidy dollars. It's not just about turning them off but reversing them, for a period of time.
