It is really great to see some people practicing the rich heritage of western grappling, fencing, and various other forms of badassery!
Great job, guys.

Ich musse dem Radopunk zustimmen, was auch sehr gut dabei kommt ist, dass ihr mit Gewandung bei alt Burgartigen Resten kämpft. So wie die Techniken die ihr beherscht und auch gut vermittelt.

what about spear techniques?
the ones i saw there looked like a copy of the halfswording bit a few seconds before, though lemme guess, thas because both spear and halfswording are based on the quarrterstaff principles, as a baseline right?

@elgostine Spear forms the basis of halfswording. I doubt that it's based on staff, since spear is a more common (and very ancient) weapon of war, whereas staff is more civillian in nature. In Paulus Hector Mair's latin text, "staff" is rendered "pilum" (spear), not the other way around.

Wow very nice...The movements though seem similar to Japanese Jujutsu and Kenjutsu. Except for the part where you do cuts over head. Looked more like eskrima. Very nice video...I haven't really seen european martials arts. This is my first time...

@Saitohkiyohiru Glad you like the vid. I can't take credit for it, but those that made it are OK with me having it here. The principles of combat are universal after all. I train both German martial arts and classical Japanese swordsmanship, and they have much in common. After all, the human body is the same no matter where you go. :)

any instructional slowed down stuff???

If you don't have an instructor and can't get one, your best bet is the longsword DVD by Ochs (available from Chivalry Bookshelf) and Christian Tobler's "Fighting with the German Longsword". However, nothing compares to a good instructor or study group. :)
