This video is a result of a question I was asked about using VST or AU preset sounds in Reason. As you may know, Reason can't actually host VST plugins, however this tutorial shows a fairly quick way of sampling VST/AU synths for use in Reason's NN-XT sampler.....provided you also own ReCycle (and a DAW to host VST or AU plugins). My DAW is Logic, but you can use the same technique if you own FL Studio, Cubase, Sonar etc.

  • Can a sample be changed so that you don't have to pay royalties and if so how can it be done is nnxt or recycle

  • @MsRonrev Any sample lifted from a track is liable to royalties. However, if you can change it beyond recognition then you may get away with sampling someones tune. If its a single hit (i.e. a kick drum) then I don't think anyones gonna worry too much. If its a musical phrase then its harder as more work, such a chopping, pitch shifting etc will be required to render the loop unrecognisable. My next video will show how to create new vocals from existing samples. Look for Reason Tutorial 16.
