@trollfinger you're exactly right and thats whats happening here too. iranians have already moved in and other boarders will fall. this country has people from within and from around all trying to rule it. the sad part is these people NEED a dictator. thats all they know. saddam was in power for 3 decades! the only people that could possibly know what it was like before him dont even remember. it has become the way of life over here

Well, when you knock a dictator from his throne, there is a power struggle. Civil war is always a guaranteed fact. When a country like Iraq has been tourtured for years by Saddam, then suddenly he's gone, there was always going to be civil war. I understand resistance, I don't understand trying to rule your own people after having one monster removed.

Wait till international forces leave Afghanistan (for the most part) I can see all the warlords and militias moving on power.

Yeah, bullshit missions for no reason where your men at at risk doesn't sound like a good prospect. I pity them all. But it was known from the start once heavy fighting began there that the Iraqis wouldn't be greatful. You can't blame them either. If somebody rolled into your country with the might that the US military has, you wouldn't be happy either.

@trollfinger He's angry about shaving and "making things look pretty" because of the higher ups that never leave the FOB and are never at risk that dont know whats REALLY going on that breath down your back about things like shaving. He's mad about driving back and forth (like I did) to bring people to meetings just so they can get their kicks. This whole thing is bullshit. The Iraqis beg and are never greatful.

what i don't understand is why the order would ever come, although people seem to think it's pretty common. i'm pretty sure innocent children in wars throughout modern history who have been killed were killed because of the sadism of individual soldiers. there's really no strategic reason for a senior commander to order such a thing

This is definitely and accurate reflection of the feelings of many junior soldiers in iraq. This guy in particular is probably not furious like this constantly, though. i mean, you know... human nature
