They said at the time that the Brazil side that went to Argentina in 1978 was considered overall a defensive team than a traditional all attacking Brazil. I do agree that Brazil did not set the world on fire in this competition overall, but there finishing was just brilliant. Nelinos goal for me is second only to Diego Mardonnas second against England as the greatest individual effort seen at any World Cup. This is not a fluke. He scored a powerful goal against Poland in their previous match

it says on his wikipedia profile that he was trying to cross the ball - meaning the goal was a fluke but i think that's incorrect because he scored a lot of goals for a right-back and many of them were with the outside of his boot - it was obviously his speciality. If you look at the goal he is clearly eyeing up for a shot. NEVER TRUST GEEKS!!

Too bad Brazil didn't go to the final of that championship......but they had to play 2 hours before Argentina-Peru. Both games were scheduled to be played at the same time but Argentina insisted that Brazil would play earlier so they knew they had to win by 4 goals.....

No it didn't. This goal was scored more than 30 years ago, if you search youtube there are other footages that show the ball's trajectory was flawless.

i hadnt seen the footage of this taken from behind the goal until last night, and as you say it clearly didnt make any contact with the defender.
