How we group our tasks can make a big difference in our efficiency. By batching up requests we can do them with less overhead. This makes our work more schedules, and a domino effect of dependencies get easier: people learn your schedule and plan their work around you. This makes all processes more predictable. Sharding is the process of breaking up a big task into equal-sized fractions done one bit at a time.
Tom also explains "Fit-It days" as a way of motivating an entire team to stop work to catch up on a particular goal.
