Also a good portion of the newfie bullshit comes from people feeling inept and seeing hardworking newfoundlanders as a threat. They know that we work hard and are infact some of the most efficient people in canada. When the newfoundlanders are on site, work gets done and any lazy people know they have to pick up the pace to keep up...that would make anyone who doesent like to work hold a grudge.....more to come..

@wizwow77 Yes I agree and have seen first hand,G.C.O.S./Suncor and Syncrude were built on the backs of many, many Hardworking Newfoundlanders.

I always new Hard work wasn't a consideration, it was who we were but I believed it was our sharing and openness to help anyone and give if needed when needed, to be the Neighbor that dude Jesus spoke about, smart dude e was. That we wouldn't allow wrongness to sit idly by and not speak out when people were being treated unfairly, a decency..

It is sad that you were teased that much you denied your heritage..However I have always noticed it was the biggest fuck-ups, crack heads , alcoholics and bitter people who got the most pleasure out of the newfie joke bullshit. I have always noticed these people usually miss a day of work every week and dont ever seem to last long on a job. It seems that Newfoundland might be found inside some and not all, I have seen the worst and sadly it came from ones I worked and thought and sought a connection to be saddened by the same backwardness I see with the City people. just shitty greedy mean spirited want to step on people to make themselves a little taller.

This is a friendly country but sadly there is a lot of ignorance when it comes to ethnic background. We as newfoundlanders are no doubt different than people living in downtown toronto and I thank God for that. We have been the joked about because of our financial situation as canadas poorest province. That has changed in recent years and we are now richer than ontario where most of this newfie shit originated..ontario now recieves equalization whereas we pay in...our economy is booming

@Covey1969 Well let me tell you some of my story, I had to move from my home at a young age and like you i was privy to all the newfie stereotype joke bullshit. I noticed right away though, that people only treat you as you allow yourself to be treated..and if you dont go along with it, (like many newfoundlanders do to feel accepted).it goes away rather quickly. It sometimes annoys me when i look up videos about my province and this kind of crap made my dimwits comes up in the search...
