  • I have Emperor clock movement Model 101 High Pallet Bride and the clock part works but the chimes stopped chiming after I pulled weights back to top, if I pull down the weights when hands reach hour or quarter hour it chimes but only if I pull down on the weights, any help?

  • @agr1170 Maybe the chain got twisted and is now jammed? Maybe it needs to be cleaned and oiled. My chimes stopped working because the pivots needed some oil.

  • Could you help me with a clock? My clock's movement is almost the same as yours, looking at the front. The problem is, it does not stay ticking, though the chimes and strike are working. I did not overwound it. I even leveled it but no avail. The clock mechanism is inside a small wooden box, accessible only at the front. I oiled it but still nothing.

  • @HLD452 The movement shown in this video is driven by a weight. The one you describe sounds like it is spring driven. Since I can't examine yours I can only guess. If it is spring driven possibilities are broken mainspring, dirty movement, broken balance staff or something else.

  • And by the way, if I cannot make it go ticking again by myself, I will replace the movement of the clock. The movement, by the way, is old. A corner of the dial starts to wear off (it's wooden and I think the wood is just glued up remnants of wood that comes off when you cut it), the wooden box starts to weaken, too and the case of the clock (housing) is also wearing off (it passed by a flood but the flood never reached the top, only the bottom)

  • @bunnspecial It wasn't a spring driven. It's also weight driven. The heaviest weight goes to the chime train, second heaviest goes to the strike train and the lightest goes to the time train. I did that, still no. It was on a wooden box. I don't know with my grandmother because she bought the clock made in China but movement changed before made in W. Germany. Yes it is in a wooden box, I don't know why.

  • @snogluver On this movement there is a cam on the minute hand post that lifts up one lever that then lifts up two more levers. Either the follower is broken or the lever is stuck in the up position. I would like to help you but unless I see the movement I can't do much.

  • @bunnspecial It is the 1/4 hour chimes, a little lever will not lift when it is supposed to.

  • @snogluver This clock does not have a silence switch. I have seen movements with a silence switch. The switch would be located on the right side if your facing the clock. If the hour chimes still work then your 1/4 hour might be stuck. I had the same problem with this clock. Either the hour or 1/4 hour didn't work so I opened up the back and oiled all the pivots . The chimes started working. Maybe you need a clean and oil. I plan on doing some videos taking this apart.

  • I have the same clock, but the quarter hour chimes will not move. Is there a chime silence switch?
