I use alcohol wipes to do this.. It will clean all the gunk off of your strings and brighten them up a bit.

Thanks Brad. Audio is a bit low on all of your posts, might boost it a bit. I have been playing mando several years with no instruction, nobody I know can play one, so you have given me a real boost.

Grab one of those used Bounce fabric softeners from the clothes dryer, Then pinch it over all your strings from the bridge to the nut. It removes all that crud and the strings will be much brighter. Works on all string instruments too. Try it, you'll like it!

I will definately try that. Never did like the smell of those things in the dryer. Glad to hear there is a better use for them.
