**********
Noli, o cara, te adorantis
Voto Ducis non favere,
Et suspira animae amantis
Saltem disce non horrere.
**********
Do not spurn, dear one,
the pleas of the leader who adores you,
at and least learn not to shrin,
from the wild beating of a loving heart.

Recommendation:
A not very known "Juditha Triumphans" CD with Mingardo and Invernizzi under Diego Fasolis, Coro della Radio Svizzera, I Barocchisti, Guillemette Laurens (Holofernes), Roberta Invernizzi (Vagaus), Sara Mingardo (Juditha, not Holofernes as above), Manuela Custer (Abra), Tiziana Pizzi (Ozias)

Very good indeed. Wonderful voice. She is a true female contralto, very rare... Usually this aria and everybody in Judita Triumphans is sung by women but actually, all the characters there are allegorical, besides this is supposed to be sung by Holofernes who represents the Turkish Sultan, so it's more logical to be sung now by CTs and there are more and more good CTs now with advanced technique who sound manly. The most beatiful version and just HEAVENLY is Mattew White's on MrVertebra's channel

very good considering she is forced to carry a bricklayer's hod!

Too bad the camera angle is so poor! I love watching Mingardo's facial expressions while she sings! She's such a powerful singer! It always amazes me how she is just as powerful in the lower register!!!

It´s a bit sad watching this video... Knowing that she´s been here in Madrid... I´ve missed one of my favourites classical singers!...Thanks for posting anyway!

Simply breathtaking!!! What a powerful performance... I have opus111 CDs *Juditha triumphans* with Alessandro de Marchi conducting. I like this performance a lot more.
Mingardo is simply the best...Thank you so much, Gudrun 74 , for posting this video.
