  • This is the 'rockiest' version of Yusuf Islam. The old guy didn't go totally away ;-) I love this!!

  • Love You M. Yusuf Islam! And Love wath you are doing for the poor pople!

Love You and Love your Songs!

    Thank's

    Fab.

  • @abdelali2012 This song was written before he converted to Islam. Brilliant song and he is still great :)

  • @abdelali2012

Wrong. He wrote this song a long time before his near death experience which led him to Islam. The song is actually about a woman, but he has omitted the word girl from the verses for this version.

  • God gave him a gift for a reason

  • I heard the original today on public radio...absolutely BLEW ME AWAY!!! We Love You Yusuf, and your music has enriched my life indescribably!!!

  • @abdelali2012: He wrote this while recovering from tuberculosis in 1968; it was on 'Mona Bone Jakon' in July 1970. He first read the Qur'an in 1976 and formally converted to Islam in December 1977.

I mean no disrespect to Islam, or to Yusuf. He saw a light that is not restricted to any religion, nor even limited specifically to religion. It is true that he later chose to *honor* this light through Islam, but the light shines equally upon everyone. If it did not, it would not be the light.

  • Amazing version. I love the changes he puts in the tempo. Great artist. Cool CAT!!!
