Two Su-27 aerobatic planes collide and crash into a village during a training flight near Moscow. One pilot died in the incident.
Two Su-27 jet fighters from an elite aerobatic group called the Russian Knights crashed into a village after colliding in the air near Moscow, leaving one pilot dead and one civilian injured. The collision occurred during a training flight ahead of a series of airshows at MAKS air and space fair starting on Tuesday in the town of Zhukovsky.

Russian media said these planes fell on a village close to the Zhukovsky airfield setting three houses on fire. Interfax news agency quoted a local law-enforcement source as saying one woman sustained burns. RIA news agency said five residents of Belozerikha village were injured.

Russia is seeking to turn MAKS, which starts next week at the Zhukovsky airfield, into a leading international aviation and space exhibition and a venue for striking major contracts. The event attracts tens of thousands of spectators.

In a separate aircrash on Sunday, two pilots of a small training turboprop plane Yak-52 died when it collapsed to the ground in the Kaluga region in central Russia.
