This is me performing Bach's Goldberg Variations on September 3rd, 2007 in my apartment. Here are links to all parts of this recording session:

Vars. 27-30 + Aria

I show my face and briefly introduce myself at the end of the last video.

Bach sure could write a mean set of variations.

(P.S. I'm not a professional performer -- just someone who loves to play. I realize this isn't a note-perfect, error-free recording, but my hope is that other music lovers will enjoy, or at least get something out of, my humble interpretation.)

Thanks for watching!

  • Hi, do you have any tips on playing complex contrapuntal passages?

  • @CaramelMarshmallow Good question! I had no special technique for learning them. I basically just practiced one hand at a time a lot, and sometimes one contrapuntal line at a time to make sure I was following them all. Then I'd put it together very slowly, trying to hear each line distinctly so it wasn't a jumbled mess in my head.

  • what i find amazing is ur ability to memorized all of the variations. how long've u been learning all of them? great job btw.

  • Thank you, ryanyee1234567890! I had been learning them for around 2.5 years when I recorded this.

  • fucking dope.

  • Thanks, streetlyfultraman!

  • Many thanks, faraz1729!

  • I haven't seen anyone on youtube play the variations as wonderfully as you. I especially love your variations 5 and 14. Marvelous work.

  • Thanks for your comment, klaverfar! It has definitely been a challenge to learn this.
