Johno's Blues Band, from Cairns in Queensland, Australia, and featuring Kirk Lorange on guitar. This song is from their 1989 album 'Don't Knock The Blues' (I think).

This VHS was in really poor shape, I did the best I could to restore the colour but it's still not perfect. Hopefully I will find another copy on a tape here somewhere, and I'll re-upload if I do.

  • Hey, I remember that day! Brings back tropical memories. I still play slide on the same guitar.

    Kirk Lorange

  • Thanks for stopping by. This was and still is a song that gets a smile out of me every time I hear it, so I had to share the video. The sound seems to flow so smoothly, and Johno's flamboyance is just impossible to ignore :)

  • Now this is an absolute classic. Johno is a big name in Cairns although his Blues Bar closed a few years ago due to the license being limited to midnight in the same week that the non-smoking laws came in.

  • Yeah I did some Googling and found a few reports on it. Really sucks, to me it's not a real Blues Bar unless its 2 in the morning and the smoke in the air is as thick as the bourbon in the glasses.
