  • This was an awesome night! I remember it well. Cremins drove us crazy, but the Thriller Dome was definitely that during his tenure!

  • very true. Hewitt is a GREAT recruiter, too. But the problem is that he can't keep these guys for longer than a year. The NBA KNOWS that GT is a huge place to come, so these kids do one-and-done. His year to prove himself will be this year. We've got the talent, its just gonna come down to his skills as a coach.

  • Hey Hewitt has done one thing Cremins never could and that is get to a NCAA final. I thinks Cremins was never the same coaching at Georgia Tech was when he jumped for the South Carolina job in 1993 then decided to comeback to Georgia Tech they weren't the same after that , I know they made the Sweet 16 in 1996 but that was it.

  • Thanks, not to insult the Georgia Institute of Technology.

  • not GTU, it's GIT.

  • ...why did we ever let Cremins go?

  • Tom Hammonds was a stud at GTU. I wish he had a better NBA career.

  • 1989 is when I first got into College Basketball.

I miss that style of play, however there is still good basketball happening now.

  • I recall UNC losing to Duke in the final home game in 1989. However, UNC beat Duke in the ACC Tourney title game a week later. Seems like they possibly beat Ga. Tech in the first round though I admit my memory is foggy on that. UNC eventually lost to eventual Michigan in the NCAA Tourney and I think Duke lost to Seton Hall in the Final Four. Hard to believe all that's been 20 years ago.

  • unc would go on to lose their very next game at home vs duke.
