This is why I loved Castle of Chaos. Less animatronics, more crazy, creepy actors. When a haunt is almost solely animatronic, how scary does that get? The animatronic can do what it's programmed to do and that's it. Maybe startles you a bit, but not truly scares. Actors are unpredictable, which increases the tension. The actors at Castle of Chaos do an excellent job of utilizing that technique.
