The plan worked perfectly, they only won one game the rest of that season which allowed them to "reverse" leapfrog the Devils so they could draft Mary-O.
History proves that you don't even deserve to be in the same state as Philly.
Last but certainly not least, the 1984 draft. I did mention "shameless" before right? Well here is another Pens shameless moment. The Pens made it very clear to everyone that they wanted and needed to draft Lemieux to stay alive. They did this by throwing the last 20+ games of the season by healthy scratching their best players and bringing kids up from the minors who had no business getting a roster spot in the NHL. I understand why they did it, but it doesn't make it right.
They also did it for the simple fact that they didn't want to be forgotten, since the Pens were shitsville compared to the Steelers and Pirates of that year. When you have to look at not one, but two totally different sports to be your savior, you have officially reached embarrassmentville. I will never deny Pittsburgh supports the Steelers, but unless the Pirates or Pens are doing well, that fan base stays away.
Before anyone assumes I am, I am NOT a flyers fan.
Pittsburgh hands down is the better city for hockey compared to Philly. That is why from day one the Pens have always had problems drawing fans? That is why the Pens did one of the tackiest things a "no-shame" organization can do by changing their uniform 1,000 times in 5 years? The ultimate and tasteless example being when they switched to black and gold, trying to ride the coat tails of the Pirates and Steelers who had won championships that year.....pretty pathetic.
we dont boo the player for the penalty we boo the ref. u support your teams in good times and bad, then how come your franchise almost left your city not once but twice because of poor attendance when they were losing tons of games. and u also support all your teams, hows the support going for the pirates? you only have three pro sports teams, they're probably too scared to put basket ball there cause no one would go. and this guy seemed to target drunken flyer fans to make all of us sound dumb
they got a point when they said philly fans dog out their own teams
