Donald Miller changed my life with Blue Like Jazz. Now I really want to meet him, we would get along just fine.

I finally finished "Searching..." after over four months of reading it. I felt that I needed to take a break after each chapter to digest the thought morsel I consumed. It is truly a stirring work.

"Blue Like Jazz" was much more anecdotal.

Both were well written!

I wish I could say I believed that, your replies and comments would make me think otherwise. The Bible has a few names for people like you, Jesus says a lot of them.

or perhaps, they're Christians who take 'love your enemies' seriously and don't think we should be preemptively attacking them? The only issue I think Christians should have a hard time supporting is abortion, but as I once heard Don say in an interview, the number of abortions actually went up with Bush in office rather than Clinton. It's silly to vote on one issue considering abortion won't be made illegal no matter who is in office.

I'm not Republican, but you start with the assumption that it's the government's duty to create health care and social programs. Jesus commissioned the church, not the government, to take care of those needs. I have no problem with a conservative who votes against big government and social programs if they serve those people personally with their own resources. Many liberals seem to vote for social programs so someone else takes care of the poor because they don't want to.
