'Convict their peers...' It's not like we're deciding they're guilty and should go to jail. They've already admitted to guilt and we're deciding on a certain number of community service hours, what's wrong with that? And while we may not have experienced 'real-world situations,' we have certainly experienced the sort of situations that teenagers - like the ones we're judging - have experienced.
I don't know what sort of crap Youth Court you were a member of, but mine is great.

Teens have no experience in real world situations and should not be placed in a position to judge other teens. Too much bias and room for judgment on the person, not the act. This is why we have judges. I was on one as well, and all I saw was corrupt, superiority complexed girls and a few guys convict their peers because they thought they were "so smart" and wanted to get "involved" in their community and school, etc... Youth court should be dissolved and the "officers" should get a life. I did

If you didn't do it, why'd you admit to it? You have to admit to it to go to Youth Court.

Yeah, in mine the judges are kids too, but there is a jury (also made of kids.)

Youth court is a hugely corrupted and horrible thing. It should not be a reality at all.

i am in a youth court
in ours every person in that courtroom is a kid, execpt defendants parents and our guys.
the judges r kids...heck im a judge. we dont have jury or adult judge. we run.
the police love us....the judges love.

My YC has a tribunal instead. But cool, glad to see this program is getting exposure.
