  • Nicest MCW video I ever saw/heard. Can you upload more MCW videos ? Do you have one maybe with the bus leaving from one stop to another to listen to the gear changes as the bulk of this clip is at constant speed. Thanks. The SWIFT and BMC Falcon and SOLARIS also have a nice sound.

  • There are many MCW Metrobus clips already on YouTube with stop/start action. I'll try and get some of my own at some point. Will be uploading some Fleetline and VR stuff in the next week or so....

  • I didn't realise that this actual beast of a bus was such a legend! one of MCW's Metrobus demonstrators which (and i will stand corrected) makes it one of the first built. Didn't realise that Stevensons had actually re-built it to get it into a working condition. Well done Midland Classic for getting hold of her and may she serve for many years to come!

  • I love the Metrobus Mk1 I grew up with them living in Tottenham, North London, They were practically on all the well known routes, in North London....29,141,149,279,259,171A,307,121,243,76,W3,W8(why W?)4 and the 67..to name but a few!! I really miss the sound of that screeching Voith retarder on these and that clacking Gardner at the back, mind you,the Voith retarders are now fitted to some these new models such as the Alexander/Volvo's.

  • the engine doesent sound helthdy

  • I could'nt believe after 30+ years this bus has not been preserved, a credit to Midland Classic for keeping it in active service! I just love the screaming Voith and the ticking of the engine valves trying to keep the water pressure up from the coolant tank.

  • @Buslady2007 Do you still own it? please post a clip!!

  • its the "screaming" brakes that I liked

  • Its got a WM Metrobus hopper window on the left

  • @Mr220393 Thanks for info and I appreciate it however I think that changing a 28D to a 33B would be more hassle and expense that the worth. Surely taking into a count several of the west midlands prototype metrobuses are preserved and restored/ongoing restoration work the 1st metrobus ever built would be preserved and restored to its original state? Any info I would appreciate for this particular bus. What is its state/location now does anyone know? thanks again Rich

  • @utubescooby1 I'd imagine that minor alterations where needed to make the bus blend in, such as safety regulations in order to be kept in service. Similar to the 9 and 15 heritage routemasters - extra handlebars are put on the exit and other safety assets!

  • Hi is this really the original TOJ? If so how come the seats are wrong its single entry and has the MKII Info Monitor? Correct me if I'm wrong. Many thanks Rich
