Curator Lawrence Berman interprets the funerary spells painted in hieroglyphics on an extraordinary wooden coffin.
Found in the tomb of Djehutynakht, a Middle Kingdom dignitary, the elaborately painted coffin is on view at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, through May 16, 2010, along with a mummified head, miniature boats, and other mysteries of the afterlife in The Secrets of Tomb 10A: Egypt 2000 BC.
