i can be social but i can't because of the stuttering i have... i can't tell jokes to make my friends laugh but when i tell them something i try to tell it as clearly as i can because i dont want to stuck and say ''i ne-ne-ne ed"... something like that... but i speak and a bit fast...

so GUYS SLOWER YOUR SPEACH and TALK TO THE MIRROR FOR PRACTISE

I also don't stutter when I read poems by heart, cause I visualize the letters of the words (it really helps!!) and concentrate on my memory, not stuttering. sorry for to much comments but I just had a lot to say and I hope I helped some1 :)

do you know how much better life would be for the people that stutter if they didnt stutter. i stutter and hate it if i didnt stutter life would be so much better id be able to talk to people and anything with out being embarrassed and trying to hide the fact that i stutter. but i feel better talking to friends and people that i know. and im 15 i hope i out grow it soon.

You know, there are a lot of really eloquent speakers who stuttered as younger people. James Earle Jones is one.

Hello, im in 9th grade and i have a minor stutter that makes me sound dumb, even though i am one of the most attentive students in my classes. Last year i went through a "emo" phase because of this disorder lowering my confidence. But really i was just trying to stay in my comfort zone, by not getting involved in activities or even asking a stranger for something. But when ever i stepped out of my comfort zone to do these simple yet embarrising things, i felt much more powerful and happier.

There is a kid in my class who stutters and i laugh and smirk and i feel really bad but it is just funny where its suddenly like " m m m m m m m m m m m " as he gets stuck on m, i feel bad is there anything i can do? as saying something to him will probably make him feel worse

@38intense I totally agree with you. I am 19 and I am scared that I might not be able to reach my goals with this thing. There's nothing good about it! Sometimes I just wonder why this had to happen to me. But I am trying to do the best that I can.

I do not think one should learn to cope with one's stutter. It is rather a pessimistic approach to this condition. There are some very decent stuttering treatment available. One such treatment can found on naturaltherapyforstuttering -c-o-m.

I'm a stutter too but i'm a programmer so i don't have to talk to people much

there is a device called STUTTERFREE that helps ALOT but it's overpriced ...2000 $ check it on youtube or google.
