Theory to Practice ('09) was a four part lecture series, initiated by Ryerson University students from the Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition and Social Work departments. This series sought to fill in curriculum gaps wherein the students found an absence of practical information with regards to various real and serious barriers to health. Each of the four sessions explored a different barrier in terms of access and influences upon health, by questioning as follows -Income, Housing, Status/Citizenship and Food. Three to four professional practitioners were invited from the greater Toronto community to present at each session. Theory to Practice was generously supported by Ryerson University and as such the series was held on campus and open to all.
