Indian Wild Boar Sus scrofa cristatus: A long-maned subspecies with a coat that is brindled black unlike S. s. davidi.[31] More lightly built than European boar. Its head is larger and more pointed than that of the European boar, and its ears smaller and more pointed.[32] The plane of the forehead straight, while it is concave in the European.[32] Occurs from the Himalayas south to central India
I went to Pench in January 2011. The Wild Boar seemed to occur there in greater numbers than in Ranthambore, Bandhavgarh & Kanha. Nilgai and jackal were also more frequently encountered and were much more approachable.
