  • Nimrod is inspired by a summer evening walk on The Malvern Hills with a friend (known affectionately as Nimrod)

  • NO, it is not.... sorry. You can read a great deal about this work as well as the others in the variations. There is one about a dog - just NOT this one. It is about a person - that is all the hint I will give you - the rest you must look up and read. It will be fun...

  • wtf id doesn't even look like he's doing anything. i've seen conductors actually interact with the music... but//. he's just flapping his hands!

  • you all seem to be missing the point....stop with the maestro critique and witness how the dude is clearly putting his heart soul and guts into what he is doing and doing so quite genuinely and that is something deserving of great merit. no amount of training can fake that. not in the slightest. go and do something out of yr area of exp with minimal training and lets see how you fare on national tele. nuff said and big ups to goldie

  • Goldie сошел с ума?!

  • just to add more on Brendan Townsend. He is totally absorbed in his working WITH the orchestra, and they work WITH him every step of the way, following his instruction, even if it is just a raising of his eyebrows. He puts so much into getting so much out of the orchestra, that he looks like he may collapse at the end from all the excertion. Deserves more hits than the clip is getting. Only dissapointment for me is no view of the orchestra playing, otherwise, gorgeous !

  • I think he should study Brendan Townsend and the way Brendan gets involved with the piece and the orchestra all at the same time. Thats whats missing from Goldie. Involvement ! Hope he searches for Brendan and learns from what he sees and hears. Love the way Brendan finishes the piece with just a close of his hand. Magic.

  • This Goldie man must not have been given very good instruction! The attention by the audience SHOULD be on the music....not on some new person over-doing his gyrations for this Marvelous piece of music that yes, the orchestra could go on without his baton! A Daniel Barenbom (sp) he is not!

  • actions r too big..

  • Thought goldie was a dog on blue peter, this bloke is a pretender great facial expressions etc--the orchestra could play this on thier own by just following the lead violin

  • The missing principal theme to Elgar's Enigma Variations is "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott" (A Mighty Fortress is our God) by Martin Luther. This discovery was made by Robert W. Padgett on February 3, 2009 - the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn's birth. Google "Elgar's Enigma Theme Unmasked" to learn more.
