40 m QRP Ham radio contact both stations using 5 Watt power level. Will, K9FO is using a FLEX Software Defined Radio with a Dell Laptop computer keying. NG9D is using a Hendricks Portable Field Radio Kit PFR-3A.

    The antenna for the PFR-3A is a 150 foot (46m) center fed horizontal wire supported by three trees 30 ft (9m) above ground. The wire is roughly N-S ("broadside" E-W) but the trees are not in a straight line --in plan view there is an obtuse angle of 135° formed at the feed point.

    Coax transmission line is 50 ft RG-58/U plus 75 feet RG-6/U. The two pieces of coax are joined with a PL-258 double female barrel connector outside the house. ATU is indoors.
