How tough would it be to make a 3d printed gun?

The pieces of plastic in the video in no way make up a firearm. This is a desktop toy, and is a single hole punch that can punch through 2 sheets of paper at a time. Think of this design as an elaborate hole punch.

This design was adapted from "Foam Dart Pistol" on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7512). Therefore, it shares the same trigger design, as well as similar sear design. I found the piece of filament as the spring to reset the sear a poor idea, so I changed the sear so a rubber band can be attached to assist in reset.

This printed model is the third version of the hole punch. It is composed of 5 pins, the bolt, the receiver, the trigger and sear.

Adapting this design into one suitable to fire a .22LR cartridge would be trivial for someone proficient in any CAD software. Follow all legal laws if you intend construct a firearm.

You can view my design on Thingiverse here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:43798

This is very much a work in progress and I will upload a video when the design is completed. The bolt, trigger, and sear have all been replaced by newer components different from those seen in the video. Check my Thingiverse for the most up to date models.

UPDATE: I have taken this idea even farther, please see: http://defcad.org/forum/index.php?top...
