A more practical method of relieving a hematoma under a nail would be to heat up the end of a paperclip using a flame until it's red hot and then placing the end over your hematoma. It will melt a small hole right through the nail and will relieve the pressure. After it's drained, just dab on some antibacterial ointment over the hole.
