@jewie27 Alot of times its a good idea. You can see his hands at all times. You dont have to worry about him getting something out of the center console etc. He cant run from you in his vehicle. and you can assess his condition, Drinking etc. I use this tactic alot and I find it safer than walking upto the vehicle.

@shanered5 Actually your the tool. He wasnt trying to close it. During EVERY traffic stop a officer is to put his fingerprints on the rear of the vehicle. Hes putting his fingerprints on the car. Next time you get pulled over watch the officer put his hands on your trunk so the car can be indentified if you decided to run.
