A tender moment- Katharine of Aragon and Henry VIII

A clip from the BBC's "Henry VIII" special. This shows Henry VIII and his first wife, Katharine of Aragon, speaking in their bedchambers.

I really appreciate this production, as they actually show Henry and Katharine's relationship BEFORE it became strained due to the divorce. As is stated in the clip, they were married for 15 years before Anne Boleyn came into the picture, and another 5 or 6 before Henry sent Katharine away and married Anne.

I always have loved this scene

Heart wrenching, the way he moves her braid and runs his fingers across her shoulders, the way she glances nervously at him, the way his voice breaks when he whisper's her name, they way they kiss, the way she tries so hard for him, the way he kisses her forehead, the way she smiles at him through her sorrow, the way he calls her Kate, the way she steals one last kiss from him. Katherine of Aragon was his true love. And if not that, then Henry's true wife and Queen.

This scene is set after 15 years of marriage, making Henry about 33, so APPROACHING middle age.
