See David Keith Jones downloads via store link on this channel front page......... 'Bonnie' is a term from the North East of England and from Scotland. The arrangement was published as an English song by Margery Hargest Jones but let's not worry about the origin - please enjoy the music. I am delighted at the success of this song. Thank you and kind regards - David Keith Jones.

  • wow, that`s GREAT and WONDERFUL :-))

  • @Baureihe485 Thank you for your kind comment. I am really pleased this song & video has passed 60,000 views - I learned it in Wales a few years after WW2 - long before singing opera. Kind regards - David

  • it's an old Scottish folk song. trust me, my name is Bonnie and in Gaelic (Scottish language) Bonnie means pretty...like a Bonnie lass is a pretty girl...

  • @b017ni3 You have a lovely name. The etymology of 'Bonnie' is uncertain but it may be related to French 'Bon'. It's certainly Scottish and common in Northumberland. But sorry - it's not found in gaelic which derives from Irish. This music came from a reputable collection published as English songs. Being Welsh I'm not biased in this.

  • no british but scottish song it is!!!!!!

  • @VoceVersatile I feel very embarrassed because I seem to have missed Scottish culture being subsumed by England as I was always aware of it being a Scottish folk song rather than an English one

I was told by my mother who was a proud Scot that it was about Bonnie Prince Charlie.

  • I have a song book for my piano and it says it's a British Folk Song.

  • @StijnX It is a Scottish folksong.

  • @raigekimaru (Belated reply) Thanks for your kind remark on my voice. Attribute the vibrato to an operatic background and perhaps my age. My Bonnie is also on iTunes and Amazon under David Keith Jones. I'm pleased and surprised that a traditional version is doing so well on You Tube - simple but popular, it seems.
