I am an American living in Japan and deeply concerned about the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis in Japan. The mainstream media has largely moved on from this even though it is far from being over, and the authorities are continuing to downplay the situation and release only small amounts of very delayed information.

This is my second video on the topic where I discuss a map containing Japanese science ministry survey data showing radiation levels around Japan. This video is mainly science oriented but is an important foundation for future videos where I want to talk about topics both scientific and social.

Links and references:

Japan Science Ministry (MEXT) survey data and zoom-able map:

The International Atomic Energy Association fact-sheet:

Background radiation level research:

NOTES: Some people asked about the data in the map. It is data collected by both the Japanese science ministry (MEXT) and local governments. The readings were taken primarily with survey geiger counters (from what I can gather) at either a height of .5 or 1 meter above the ground. Apparently this method is some kind of standard. Above ground doesn't give the whole picture however as the level at the ground can be much higher and I will address that in a future video.

In the my closing remarks, somehow my voice was out of sync. with the video.

  • This info is of the misleading type. Using trustworthy info from the Jap Government as a base and afterward stating institutions are lying. He states there is no well known relation between these dosages and mortality. So red color means death and blue is life. But there are norms in this. 3x background radiation for a certain time ,( radiation disappears by flushing out and half life). when was this map taken? Continuous 2x back.gr rad takes 30 hrs of your life expectancy age (linear mod.)

  • @renevers It is true that the government has been misleading, but even if the government downplayed the information and softened the numbers the map is still extremely disconcerting isn't it? If the government's own downplayed data makes the situation look THIS bad, I think that is a clear sign of the true situation. Also, I mention that there is no good clear data on long term exposure to moderate radiation which is true. I don't mention mortality, so please listen more closely.

  • Could you post the link (english version if possible) of the 'map' shown in this video at min 4:17, world map red boxes of radiation highs? I live in Brasil and have been thinking rad levels here are pretty high, perhaps due to effects of what is So Atlantic Anomaly. thanks, Ania

  • @einiyahb The URL is displayed at the top of the video from 4:12, it is also listed in the video's description. I'm careful to document all sources of information when I make my videos :-)

  • You need to consider internal contamination via inhalation and skin absorption not just external radiation exposure.

The beathing in of "hot radioactive particles" is a serious health issue - well documented and the most dagerous aspects of radiological releases into the environment.

And Fukushima hot particles have been detected around the Northern Hemisphere - espcially Northern America.

  • @Alchaeon1 I completely agree. Internal exposure is much more serious than external exposure. This is such a huge and deep topic however with so much to say about it, that I try to stay focused on one aspect and one set of facts at a time. I do however definitely need to talk about internal exposure in a future video.

This video is kind of a set-up for future ones because if external exposure levels are like this, then clearly it must be concluded that bad internal exposure is happening.

  • You deserve a medal for what you are doing and that is reporting detailed information on what is really happening in Japan. The msm has all but forgotten Fukushima and you my friend make them all look like ignorant cowards.

  • Thanks!

  • It is very interesting, thank you!

  • @AluminumStudios you are smart,educated guy

  • Looking forward to see your next video.Clear and compréhensive.Thank you .

  • informative, took me ages to find a map and I wonder why. This should be given out and told to the people.

  • Don't these things "evaporate/disappear" after a year...like the oil in the Gulf of Mexico, and ALL other MAN MADE DISASTERS before...

What toxins?...Obviously faulty readings...We need more research...Nothing to see here...All clear...

  • Great vid,

  • Thank you very much for this video. It was extremely well presented. It's indeed a very scary and sad situation for all the millions of people in Japan (and perhaps beyond).

  • The Japanese government is tendering for software to track all Internet references to the nuclear crisis. Censorship coming? See the PDF
