While traveling in Xi'An, China this summer (2009), at the Big Pagoda, we saw this elderly gentleman practicing Chinese calligraphy on the sidewalk, with water instead of ink. Having learned calligraphy myself, I instantly knew how good at he was. I asked how long he has been doing calligraphy and he told me it had been 22 years... wow...
