NO. C-95-20091 RMW

Judge Ronald M. Whyte

It was the court case that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) was relied upon, and was codified into law by Congress in Oct. 1998. The case, and the law, gave a legal liability "safe harbor" to Internet Service Providers, that allowed the Internet to prosper with innovative, essential services such as YouTube.

In a Scientology email news list, intercepted by defectors; it was said that their role in the lawsuit would be simple. "Simply cave-in the small BBS operator, and we will impose our position."

What wasn't known by the Scientologists was Klemesrud, the BBS operator, had extensive liability insurance, later used in the defense of the action.

Dennis L. Erlich, Shari Steele, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Tom Klemesrud, Helena Kobrin, of the law firm Kobrin and Moxon.

  • wow.20 years ago.i dont think australia had net then-time flies.

    bravo bbc,trail blazers.

  • I dont understand people just can go in a private home and steal the home owners material. Thats an absurd and weird law if thats allowed. It doesnt matter if a police officer is there. The material the owner had wasnt somethings that could put the government in danger (OR WAS IT?). If the material could harm the government or people in the government, there MUST be some scientologists working there. If thats the case, i guess thats why they have tax freedom and can get away with crimes.

  • i was born may 15 1995 :)

  • I was born on the 15th may 1995 :D
