The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved an amendment authored by Congressman Paul Gillmor to increase federal funding for housing counseling. Gillmor's amendment to the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act increases federal housing counseling by $6.76 million in the FY 2008 budget. Democrats in Congress were not seeking an increase in the $41.58 million budget for housing counseling. The amendment was co-authored by Reps. Mike Turner (R-OH) and Judy Biggert (R-IL).
