REAL reporting! Excellent work Jesse. Another sad fact is that the incinerator in Harrisburg has been reported as producing more dioxin than any other facility in the US. Dioxin may be the most toxic substance known on earth. The incinerator should be shut down, not retrofit or "modernized." As problematic as land fills are, they are cleaner than incineration. Land fill polutants can be at least managed over a period of decades, incinerators force poison & green house gas directly into our air.
Here is some simple math for simple minded politicians, end the military actions in the Middle East and every six months the federal government can cover all shortfalls in every state of America for one year. Thats just one area where we are being sold out, Wake up Americans and demand change or learn to eat fly shit because thats all the elite want us to have.
@sirellyn This is not a dad who can overnight change the habit because you're not giving him any money. This is a bunch of individuals whose motivations are under question. Senators are not affected by the government not receiving any money as long as they still have any power to fuck up regulations and screw the nation over. This is a god-mode dad. I don't see how your plan works without passing through a really terrible place and getting a hell of a lucky throw on the aftermath.
@rajasmasala I just can't give the any more cash to what amounts to a gambling addicted dead beat dad. I can't/won't live without him obviously, but until he demonstrates he's shaped up, he gets nothing. Any money given before then is just going to fuel the habit.
The government is highly disfunctional, and it goes deep. You have hordes of lobby groups because there's so much cash in Washington. Nearly nothing you give will be used for what you want until they leave.
@sirellyn By the time the Progressives have an impact-- and given the woeful way the Blue Dogs are going despite how little funding the Progressives generally get, this is soon-- that sort of policy should be impossible. You would get more efficient government, certainly, at that point. ACORN is gone because of a right wing hoax. Fox News might lie them out of power but by then with the help of ppl like Ron Paul needed transparency would be built into the system.
@rajasmasala So even while progressives aren't in power, or have any sort of majority. And even assuming they did spend every single dollar well. In the mean time you would want more money given to the government to mis-spend? Say the progressives do get into power. Would they stay in power forever? No group does. So while you'd be waiting for your redistribution, lots of happy politicians in Washington would be going:
"Wow now we have enough money to bomb Iran, this is great!"
@sirellyn There are two groups famous for pork: corporate dems and republicans. Don't expect voting the republicans in to help you out. On our side, we're trying to get more progressives in.
@rajasmasala Yes I'm against insane military spending.
If they (the government) redistributes it properly? Are we talking about the same government who can't redistribute anything properly to save their life? The same one we ALWAYS complain about constantly for all the waste and pork projects? And then pay for all the red tape to wait in line at places like the DMV?
Because not giving them more money and not creating a larger barrier for you and me to get wealthier is a worse idea?
@sirellyn I hope I'm not repeating myself but any way youtube is glitching. The super rich pay less taxes because stability of investment is incentivised. Is this a bad idea? I don't know. But this means the rich also get a good business environment to work in. I even think this is a huge part of why despite the sheer number of oligopolies riddling the US system and the sheer general panic the US stock market is famous for it remains the fourth best place in the world to do business.
@sirellyn It's also obtuse and generalist to frame top-level tax exemption the way you have. The taxes paid by the super rich reflect their heavy investment in long-term capital gains. The heavy incentivisation of long-term over short-term capital gains also means that a well designed company will be able to sustainably recieve investment and rise quickly. There's a reason why despite how corrupt and failed the system is...
