genuine bayonet from the ex-Colonel Dodkins collection.
He was a WW2 British intelligence officer who started collecting various bayonets .....his collection was well known in the UK in the 1970s and when he died it was auctioned off...this FG42 bayonet is well documented from his collection, nice to have a bit of provenance.

  • Does this fit in your movie prop FG42? I love these historical bits and pieces videos by the way. Thank you.

  • @queensofbattle good question...i think we can assume that NO prop bayonets were made for the prop FG42 as the outer securing ring on the prop is too thick for the end of bayonet..the plastic ring could be thinned out a bit..but then it may not be able to take the bayonets weight!!!.

  • how much u get it for

  • @fallschirmjager0000 originally advertised in the 1980s in either the UK dealers "Regimentals" or "Alan Beadle"...it cost £175 THEN.....i got it for £200 in December 2009.

  • What is the length of your bayonet?

  • have to say i love your channel, its alot like what im trying to do with my channel and my collection, if u have time check it out

    great vid

  • @ktockly not true at all as the FG42 had such a small box mag along with its high rate of fire allowed it to only fire for 2-3 second full auto if that causing a great need for bayonets

  • its a light machine gun, a bayonet would be kinda pointless :L

  • I somehow cant watch the end of the video. It stops at 1:48.

  • Nice find. They usually used the last two numbers to ID small parts, though, so that could be from FG-42 # 77, #477, #6177, etc.
