  • Is Sam Cooke in the Rock N Roll hall of Fame.\\

We need a New Catagory called.

THE SOUL HALL OF FAME. Covering gospel, rock, R&B,Jazz, Blues, Funk, etal.

  • @sharonanony yes he is.

  • SAM COOKE wrote this song which is where BEN.E.KING took this same groove and made it into a secular song. That's not SAM singing it though.

  • I read where a lot of people are saying that Ben E. King got his song from this song. Actually, this song was written by Johnnie Taylor. Ben E. King got his song from "Stand By Me, Father", which was written by Sam Cooke and J.W. Alexander. Jimmy Outler is the lead on this song and Johnnie Taylor was the lead on "Stand By Me, Father".

  • It's not hard to tell who was one of Jimmy Outler's influences I can almost here Sam singing this song.

  • Love this sone, thank you for posting to youtube. Such an upbeat message when you need one. God bless you! PEACE

  • So so pretty!! Thank you for taking us to church with the music most of us grew up on!

  • Jimmy Outler was such a great singer! His phrasing on this one is very simlilar to Sam's. thanks for posting!

  • This is my first time hearing this song and I automatically made the connection to Ben E. King. It is funny that back in the day they took gospel sounds and made them secular and now secular music is taking gospel sounds.

  • It's Jimmy Outler

  • This is jimmy outler on the lead, what a great song.
