I heard Martina Arroyo and Grace Bumbry together in a production of Aida in the late 60s. It was fantastic - no one sings like that today. I cherish these recrodings.

I went to hear Aida after 25 years, and heard Urmana screaming, saw the tenor pumping his fist like a basketball player who's dunked the ball after he's named guerriero in chief, and poor Dolora Zajik, who at least SOUNDED plausible, having to push her bosoms out of the way to see her way down a long staircase. It was fit for the Marx Brothers.

i feel liek arroyo is one of those singers that feeds off her partner on stage. this is wonderful. i want to see aida so bad but im afraid to considering the leads they have these days.

bumbry was a good actress fiery and daring i saw them for my high school graduation. NO ONE SINGING AT THE MET LIKE THIS TODAY
