Russian destroyer scuppers Somali pirates

A Russian destroyer has captured a boat containing 29 suspected Somali pirates. The group is thought to have carried out two attacks on a Russian tanker on Tuesday, April 28, but was repelled by the crew.

- america : surveillance, then strike if there's enough evidence

- russia : shoot first, then pick up the bodies to see if anyone is alive to answer questions

- canada : board the boat, capture them, take the weapons then release them for lack of evidence

- britain : shout at 'em to surrender, fire warning shots, board then detain.

The fault lies with their govermnet for not seeking alternative methods and investing in its people more. I don't really understand the meaning when they say "suspected" pirates.... I mean they caught them in a very suspicious boat, in a very suspicious movement (they sure werent fishing) AND most importantly of all tthey got caught WITH WEAPONS (aks, rpgs, boarding hooks). Now I dunno bout the laws involved here but COMMON SENSE dictates they are pirates. Then they begin trials on finding "evidence" of them engaging in piracy... GOD no wonder they are getting bold !

If they happen in Somali waters, does not the Somali have a say in it all?

Is there connections between the shipping through Somali waters, the dumping of waste in Somali waters, the rape of their fish resources and to keeping Somalia "down" in the bin?
