This is another loop I slapped together with spare wood and parts. This video explains using it on a Philco 37-630. This loop was designed for my radios requiring an external antenna, lacking a built in BCB loop. These are allot of fun to make and very rewarding when you get them right ("high Q factor). These antennas are an excellent choice for those who lack the ability to string up a proper long wire. Or those who want an antenna which reduces noise/interference and has a directional characteristics. You can make them as small as 8" x 8". But I'd recommend at least a 20" x 20" for good performance and higher gain. The specs on this are:
30" x 30"
26 gauge magnetic wire
13 turns (95' of wire) main loop connected straight to the tuner cap
1 turn for the sense wire connected to antenna/ground of the radio
Spacing is .100" approximate between the main loop wires
1" between the loop wire and main loop
Tuner is a Zenith 10 - 470/pf (there abouts). You'll want a tuner that drops to 11/pf and up to 350/pf. Any less and generally you'll have issues getting the entire BCB tuned. If low on the upper pf range, you can add capacitance. Enjoy.
