During his life, Nick Auf der Maur broke down the two solitudes that divided Montreal between French and English Canada. A journalist and city hall politician, Auf der Maur was known more as a man about town, a boulevardier, due to his drinking habits and because he frequented many of Montreal's downtown drinking establishments. Besides the Auf der Maur legend, Nick was a Montrealer who played a major role during the turbulent period of the city's history.
Very Interesting.
Thanks for remembering the way it was.
