She is absolutely captivating. Wonderfully alive and present and putting all her passion into the piece. This is a magnificent piece that affects all sorts of people profoundly (thanks to BBC4 for showing that on Friday night). Can it get any better from the way she plays it, as if she is the lark itself struggling and striving to maintain itself and stay alive against all the pressures of humankind. There is a real pathos in this piece, of life-force set against intense vulnerability.
