Hammer Haunts are dead Hammerites with skeletal bodies, carrying a sword or a hammer in their hand. It is possible that the reanimation of the bodies of Hammerites is connected to ancient hammerite magic that bounds the soul of the individual to his vows for eternity and rises when his resting place is desecrated or the order has been dishonoured, but the exact cause is not well understood. Sometimes, when a dead Hammer's soul cannot find peace, it take the form of a non-aggressive apparition instead, such as in the case of Brother Murus. Haunts show a greater degree of consciousness than Zombies or other creatures like Burricks. They speak in ghostly tongues and one can even interpret their words. Unlike the Zombies, they are fast, agile and smart. They have retained the strength and prowess of the fallen Hammer warriors and prove to be a difficult foe. I still have the3 thief games, I remembered the first time I came across one of those 'hammer haunts' scariest thing is it can run fast and hard to shake off.

usually zombies/undead are slow and relentles, but these are quick.
