  • @Clizzle73 I agree totally. The price you pay at the local napa or other auto parts house is listed as "Cash" or "over the counter" price. The parts when supplied by the repair shop? Will be the normal retail list price of the parts. Partly because of the reasons you've listed--And it does generate a bit more $ for the shop. Anyone going to a parts store can ask to see the list price-vs-cash price. Expect to be surprised. The starter my truck needed? Listed at $130. Cash price? $65.

  • This video is way off base. Anyone can bolt on parts and even go the the local parts store to buy them. Its knowing what to fix and how.. thats why you need good techs.. by the way labor rates are used to RR parts mostly..the hard part is diag and that is not part of labor guides.

  • 0:46 = bullshit

Shops not only warranty parts, but the labor to install the parts, therefore, the parts will always cost more. If you buy your own part and bring it in for installation, and it fails, the part will most likely be warrantied, but youll be charged again for installation due to it being YOUR part.
