In Tillers Draft Animal Logging class, oxen and draft horses demonstrate ecological methods for skidding logs from the woods with tongs, sleds, and arches. Practice skidding exercises with coaches (scaled to your driving skills). See demonstrations of tree felling techniques and safety. Learn ways to load logs on a sled or wagon, watch portable sawmill operations, learn sales strategies, observe and discuss lumber seasoning and home kilns. Snows help demonstrate ideal logging conditions. Learn about micro-forestry from tree to specialty lumber.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. The John Deere cart caught my eye. Lol

About 20ish years ago, in Little Rock, Arkansas, I stopped the car and let my little girls watch a man doing this very thing with his horses (logging), only he walked along side rather than have a ride behind the horses. Once in a while, we saw the horses, but eventually they disappeared and we moved. Wonderful to be able to see this kind of work. I felt really lazy sitting there while those men and horses were sweating and doing such hard work!
